Double Island Point Lighthouse

Double Island Point Lighthouse

Take a walk along to the top of this hill to be rewarded with a stunning up-close view of the historic Double Island Point Lighthouse. There are incredible 360-degree views that can reach from Fraser Island and Rainbow Beach all the way around to Noosa on a clear day. It’s a 2.2km return walk so it won’t take too much time out of the day. Look for dolphins, marine turtles and manta rays in the waters off the headland, and migrating humpback whales during the cooler months.

Best Season

Visiting the lighthouse can be done all-year round, however, in the cooler months, migrating humpback whales might be seen from the high vantage point.

Location

The Double Island Point lighthouse is a spectacular piece of history that is set against a backdrop of coastal banksia and low wind-stunted pandanus. While visiting, feel free to explore around the lighthouse and the buildings that surround it, built back in 1884.
